As the name says it, Consecutive Interpreters translate orally and in person from one language to another in specific pauses or intervals from whoever is involved in a given meeting, after each sentence or paragraph from the original speaker. Hence the word “consecutive”, meaning one thing after the other, as opposed to “simultaneous”, which would imply interpreting at the same time. Consecutive Interpretation is a discipline where an interpreter provides its services to business or academic settings, such as an interview or a meeting with a small group of people. However, Consecutive Interpretation is not only for small crowd environments since it can also be used in physical spaces where conditions are not suitable for installing interpreting equipment (such as simultaneous interpretation booths). Consecutive Interpretation services can be used in person or online.
Consecutive Interpretation is usually required in small group settings such as negotiations, training webinars, formal dinners, appointments, courtrooms, round-table discussions, interviews and cross-cultural weddings.
